The problem
Black founders and historically underrepresented nonprofit and community leaders are building solutions to some of our communities' most pressing challenges.
But too often, they are expected to do it with less capital, less infrastructure, smaller networks, and less margin for failure.
Traditional capacity-building approaches frequently respond by asking leaders to become better at navigating the very systems producing these inequities.
We believe the question should be different.
Instead of asking: "How do we help Black leaders fit into existing systems?"
Black Ops asks
What would we build if Black leaders had the resources, infrastructure, healing, strategy, and power necessary to lead on their own terms?
Who we build with
Entrepreneurs turning lived experience, community insight, and bold ideas into ventures capable of creating economic and social change.
We are particularly interested in supporting Black women founders and leaders whose ideas have historically been overlooked or undercapitalized.
Historically underrepresented leaders building organizations, movements, and community-based solutions in areas such as education, economic mobility, health, housing, food justice, and community power.
We don't start with what's wrong with the leader. We start with what it will take for the leader and their vision to thrive.
The Black Ops approach
